Richard James Miano, born September 3, 1962, is an ex-American football defensive back who played for three teams in National Football League (NFL) for 10 seasons.

Miano was hired in July 2014 as a color analyst to broadcast Hawaii’s football games on OC Sports. Miano was appointed executive director of 2020 Hula Bowl.

Miano had a 19-4 record as the Kaiser Cougars’ head coach, leading to the 2013 state championship, when they defeated Kauai 17-7 in the D-II final.

Miano started his college career as a walk-on with the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors college football club in 1981. He then became an all-Western Athletic Conference defense back in 1983 and 1984. The New York Jets selected Miano in the sixth round, 1985 NFL Draft. He played five seasons there. Miano was injured in his knee and missed the 1990 season. He then moved to Philadelphia Eagles, where he played for four seasons. He played in 1995 for the Atlanta Falcons, his last season in the NFL.

Miano retired from the NFL in 2011 and returned to Hawaii as an associate coach for the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. Miano was appointed head coach of the Henry J. Kaiser High School football team in 2011 after Greg McMackin, Hawaii’s head coach, resigned. Miano’s team won the HHSAA championship with a 12-1 record in 2013.
