Governor Matt Bevin selected Alvarado to be his running-mate in the 2019 Kentucky governor’s election. On November 5, the Bevin-Alvarado party lost the general election to Jacqueline Coleman and Andy Beshear’s Democratic ticket.
He was the sponsor of a 2017 bill on medical malpractice that was later overturned by the Kentucky Supreme Court. The bill was obstructing the access to the courts.
