In 2002, Hegedus established Soul Vision Films Pty Ltd. According to Hegedus, the philosophy of the company is to make and direct films that offer an insight into human nature. In the company, he made Inheritance, a Fisherman’s Story which is a co-production between Australia and Hungary inspired by the ecological catastrophe that occurred in Hungary at the time of 2000. The film was nominated to be a finalist for 2004’s Academy Awards and won an additional seven awards across the globe. In 2004 Hegedus created his debut short film, Redemption which he says will capture the nine most crucial minutes of a man’s existence in a single shot. Redemption took part in a number of international film festivals. It was also screened at the annual meeting held by the National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty in conjunction with Fahrenheit 9/11, a documentary by Fahrenheit 9/11, directed by Michael Moore.

2005 – Hole in the Wall – short drama (Writer/director)

In 2005 Peter wrote and directed Hole in the Wall, an eleven-minute drama that explores the importance of dealing with the past in order to move on with our lives. The film participated in many festivals around the world and won best screenplay at the Queensland Short Film Festival.

Peter Hegedus (born 21 August 1976) is a prize-winning producer, director, and writer of documentary and short fiction films. In addition, he is the grandson of the previous Premier Secretary of Hungary, Andras Hegedus.
