She was Chief Judge beginning January 1 2013, until December 2019.
Saris was then assistant United States Attorney of the District of Massachusetts from 1982 until 1986. She was the Chief of the Civil Division from 1984 to 1986. Between 1986 and 1989 she was an United States Magistrate Judge, United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. She was Associate Justice of the Trial Court of Massachusetts, Superior Court Department from 1989 until 1993.
