In February of 2011 the father of Fareez contacted Serbian manager Luka Lalic who arranged a six-week trial for Fareez at Croatian big-names Dinamo Zagreb. Dinamo Zagreb wanted to keep Fareez, but they were not able to sign him as per new FIFA rules in the wake of Chelsea’s allegations of tapping French youngster Gael Kakuta in 2009.
Fareez began his career in football in the club of Gombak United in 2011. The young forward was one of the youngest players since Hariss Harun made his first appearance in the S.League against Albirex Niigata (S) on 11 April 2011. He came to replace South Korean striker Chang Jo-Yoon in the 88th minute. He became the second-youngest player to participate within the S.League at age 16 years, 7 months 13 days. The goal was his debut goal for the league in the 2-1 loss against Singapore Armed Forces on 25 June 2011.
Fareez resigned for the Young Lions for the 2016 S.League season and made a fine start to the season, scoring 3 goals in 6 appearances. Fareez scored his fourth goal in his seventh appearance, becoming the top scoring local-born footballer.
