Fausto Biloslavo (born in Trieste 13 November 1961 in Trieste) is an Italian journalist. As a freelance and correspondent journalist, he was a witness to conflict that ranged from his time covering the Soviet attack on Afghanistan up to Balkans as well as Africa. In March 1997, he was able to negotiate to release Mauro Galliani the Italian reporter who was kidnapped in Chechnya.
In 1987, Biloslavo entered Afghanistan from Pakistan and spent four months in the Mujaheddin household. In his return journey to Pakistan Biloslavo was detained at the hands of Afghan Police. He was held for seven months, and then sentenced to seven years of imprisonment to serve at the Pul I Charki prison in Kabul. After 202 consecutive days of detention thanks to the intervention of the former Italian presidency Francesco Cossiga.

In 1982, at an age of just 21 Biloslavo was working in Lebanon as a journalist during Lebanon’s civil war as an independent photographer and writer during the Siege of Beirut in summer 1982. During the Israeli military operation, he was the only one who witnessed the former PLO chief Yasser Arafat fled Beirut.
In 1983, with two right-wingers Almerigo Grilz and Gian Micalessin, Biloslavo founded the Albatross Press Agency which was a free-lance agency. The agency created TV news reports, as well as first-hand war letters from the world’s most famous hot spots selling its products to the major international networks, particularly for CBS as well as NB in English-speaking countries and even in the German NDR and TSI (Italian Swiss Television channel).
Biloslavo is married to Cinzia and lives in Trieste with his wife and daughter. He is a member of the Paratrooper Association or ANPd’I of Trieste. On April 19, 2012 Fausto Biloslavo was awarded the Giorgio Lago prize.
