Nili Latu is one of the most popular and richest Rugby Union Player who was born on February 19, 1982 in Tongatapu, Tonga. Nili Latu, the name for Otenili Langilangi (born on 19th February, 1982) is a Tongan rugby union footballer. In the year 2018, Latu left Newcastle Falcons after helping Falcons finish 4th on the Aviva Premiership, the highest performance in the last twenty years. Latu moved to Japan to continue his rugby career.

On the 17th of April, 2015 Latu was released from Japan for English soccer club Newcastle Falcons in the Aviva Premiership starting in the 2015-16 season.

The player was signed by Japanese team NEC Green Rockets in 2007 and played 63 times before joining his current team Newcastle Falcons at the end of the season of 2015. He also played for the Tonga national rugby team at the international level and been a part of the two World Cups of Rugby. Nili has also been a part of The Pacific Islanders in the 2006 and tour of 2008.

In the latter half of 2006, Latu was called up to the Hurricanes team to cover All Black players who were absent Jerry Collins and Rodney So’oialo for the 2007 season. Latu played during the 2007 Rugby World Cup for Tonga which he played a key role for the Tonga National Team. He earned a reputation for himself thanks to his massive tackles. In 2008, he was named on the list of the top 50 players of rugby in the world according to The Independent newspaper.

Latu began his career in rugby playing career at Bay of Plenty in the Air New Zealand Cup. Latu made his first appearance with the Chiefs in 2005, in an encounter with the Sharks. The Chiefs made their debut with Tonga on the 4th of June 2006, against Japan. The next match was against Fiji and, during his third Test, was captain of Tonga in the match against Junior All Blacks, and after that to face the Cook Islands. He was also used as a substitute in the game against Samoa before being named captain of the team during an opponent in the next Test, the Cook Islands.

After the 2017–18 Season Finished, Latu announced he would be leaving Newcastle Falcons and Returning to his former club NEC Green Rockets.
