Nigel Edwards (born 31 December 1950) is Nigel Edwards was a Welsh ex-footballer, who was a full-back. He made over 400 Football League appearances for Chester City and Aldershot.
After four seasons at Aldershot, Edwards returned to Chester in June of 1982 using the money raised by supporters via the Seals Player Appeal Fund. The Chester defender kicked off his debut league match with a goal that he scored in the match against Crewe Alexandra, but he only made seven matches in the league before moving for Oswestry Town the following year.
In 1974-1975 Edwards was absent for just four games while Chester received promotion from Division Four and advanced to the Football League Cup semi- finals. Even though he was a full back, Edwards scored seven times in the course of the entire season. In the following season, he helped Chester to reach the 5th round in the FA Cup and win the spin-off Debenhams Cup competition at the final game in the campaign. He was a Chester player until joining Aldershot on July 28, 1978.

Born in Wrexham, Edwards was signed by Chester as an untrained player in September of 1968 following his time in the club of Blackburn Rovers on amateur terms. After performing well in the reserve team, Edwards made his Football League debut on April 23rd 1969, against Lincoln City, alongside fellow youngster Grenville Millington. They would go on to make over 500 appearances in league matches with the club over the course of their careers.
In the years 1971-72, Edwards was the first choice right-back for Chester and was the topic of constant speculation on transfers after being part of the trip to New Zealand and the Far East along with Wales in the summer prior. Even though he was on a short period of loan at Rotherham United in the first period of 1973-74, he was left out of Chester’s first team Edwards was able to return to Chester but did not play in the Millers and was soon back in his spot in the team.
In May 2004, 53-year-old Edwards played in Chester goalkeeper Wayne Brown’s testimonial at Deva Stadium.
