Neil Banfield, born 20 January 1962, is an English former footballer. He played in the Football League For Crystal Palace and Leyton Orient. He is the Queens Park Rangers’ first-team coach.
Banfield was also the assistant manager of U21 Republic of Ireland. This position he held from April 2004 to May 2005. Banfield was appointed first- team coach at Arsenal on 24 May 2012. This position he held until 2018.
He retired and became a coach. His coaching career began with Charlton Athletic, where he was the head coach for the academy. Banfield joined Arsenal in 1997. Banfield was then appointed to coach Arsenal’s academy team. He won two FA Youth Cups with them, a FA Premier Academy League U17 title (1999-2000) and a U19 League title (2001-02). After Eddie Niedzwiecki’s departure to Blackburn Rovers in September 2004, he became the Arsenal Reserves coach.

Banfield was born in Poplar (London). His football career began as a centre- half with Crystal Palace. He won the 1978 FA Youth Cup with Crystal Palace. He had a brief spell with Adelaide City in 1981 after he left Palace. Banfield returned to Palace in 1983 and moved to Leyton Orient, where he played for one season.
