He is the director of the Biblical Museum of Natural History, Beit Shemesh. His interest in science and zoology is his most prominent characteristic. Rabbi Feldman admits that Slifkin, even in Rabbi Eliashiv’s opinion, “cannot be considered a heretic,” even though some parts of the books are heretical. However, Feldman says that Slifkin did at least follow a minority view. These defenses of ban were controversial and Rabbi Slifkin posted them all along with rebuttals from various people on his website. Rabbi Meiselman asked Rabbi Slifkin to remove the lectures from his site. Slifkin refused. Rabbi Meiselman published a nearly 900-page book in 2013 entitled “Torah, Chazal and Science”. He stated that the book was “in response to some recent controversy surrounding Torah and science.” A number of books have tried to present a radical new theology while claiming it is compatible with traditional Jewish belief. Chaim Malinowitz sided with his Haredi colleagues by not seeking to ban Slifkin’s books.
