The Sharks’ Under-18 Craven Week in Polokwane, South Africa in July 2013 was his first appearance. After graduating high school, he joined the Sharks Academy and played for the Sharks U19 team in the 2014 Under-19 Provincial Championship. He started all 13 matches as a loosehead prop, which saw them reach the semi-final, where they were defeated by the Blue Bulls United 19 20-43.
