Mercer Timmis is one of the most popular and richest American football running back who was born on January 19, 1994 in Burlington, Vermont, United States. Timmis has two siblings, Taylor and Brian IV. His parents are Jennifer and Brian III. Brian Timmis II, his great-grandfather played 17 years for the Regina Rugby Club and Ottawa Rough Riders. He was also a founding member of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame. His grandfather, Brian Timmis II played one season for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, in 1953.

In 2018, he began to play more regularly as Alex Green, the incumbent running back, was recovering from an injury. Timmis recorded his first professional career touchdown while playing the Edmonton Eskimos. He also ran 17 carries for 133 yard in his first professional 100-yard rush game. Timmis ended the 2018 season with 44 carries, 205 rushing yards, four touchdowns and a catch and return of four kickoffs. Timmis was only touched once in playoff games. It was a 25-yard rush in Eastern Semifinal.

Timmis was selected 14th by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats as the 2016 CFL Draft’s top pick. He also attended mini-camps with the New York Giants and Carolina Panthers before signing with the Tiger-Cats. On August 20, 2016, he made his CFL debut against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He played in nine regular- season games and one playoff match that year. After playing in nine of the first nine games of 2017, he was injured in the Labour Day Classic, which ended his season.

Mercer Edward Timmis, born January 19, 1994, is a former Canadian running back in the Canadian Football League. In the 2016 CFL Draft, he was selected in the 14th round by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He played three seasons with the team before joining the Toronto Argonauts. He was a CIS football player for the Calgary Dinos.

Timmis was a CIS football player for the Calgary Dinos between 2012 and 2015. He broke the Canada West records for total touchdowns and rushing touchdowns during a single season in 2013, and was named Canada West MVP. He was the Dinos’s most successful player and was a three time All-Canadian CIS First Team All-Canadian. He was ranked seventh in the Canadian Football League’s Amateur Scouting Bureau December rankings of players eligible for the 2016 CFL Draft. He was also ranked third by Canadian Interuniversity Sport players.

On the first day of Free Agency in 2019, Timmis signed a contract with Hamilton’s division rival Toronto Argonauts. However, he opened the 2019 Toronto Argonauts season on the six-game injured list and abruptly retired shortly after the first game of the season on June 25, 2019.
