After his return home to Huddersfield Town, Crooks remained playing for the reserve team of the club. Then, Crooks sustained an ankle injury in a game for development in the early part of October. After surgery the club announced Crooks was in a wheelchair until the end of February. After his return in mid- February, Crooks was praised for his rehabilitation from injury as well as playing in the central defense. After the conclusion of the 2013-14 season Crooks was given a contract extension at the request of the club.
Ahead of the 2014–15 season, Crooks switched number shirt from thirty-six to twenty-two after Ed Wilczynski took over Crook’s first number and made an impressive display as a centre back in the pre-season friendly that convinced Mark Robins to use him. After years playing at the reserve and be loaned out twice at the time, Crooks finally made his first team début at centre back for the Terriers in the 4–0 defeat by A.F.C. Bournemouth on 9 August 2014 in the opening game of the season. The loss, however, was to be Robins last game as a manager of Huddersfield Town, as he was sacked the next day Newspaper Huddersfield Daily Examiner urged the club’s supporters to give Crooks time to make up his mistake after receiving criticism during the match, including the first goal.
Three weeks later, Crooks returned to Accrington Stanley signing an 18-month contract on 24 February 2015. After a strong start to the 2015–16 season which saw him score an extra time equaliser against Hull City in the Football League Cup and a 90th-minute equaliser against Notts County in League Two, Accrington manager John Coleman tipped Crooks to have a big future in the game.
In October of 2010 Crooks was part of the Town team to the League One match against Plymouth Argyle Then, the following day Crooks was picked as a bench player in the Town’s FA Cup match against Cambridge United. In the lead-up to the 2011-12 season Crooks was one of the youth players likely to be loaned out in order to gain experience in the first team. However, in Novemberof 2011, Crooks made his professional debut with his club until 2014. The news was released on February 9, the year 2012 when Crooks received a nomination for League One Apprentice of the Year. However Crooks ultimately lost the award in the hands of the Charlton Athletic’s Jordan Cousins.

He joined Huddersfield Town’s academy in the latter part of 2000, following a stint in Manchester United Academy. Manchester United Academy and signed his first professional contract with the club.
The month of March was when it was announced that Crooks was being a part of Halifax Town on a one-month loan. At Halifax Town, Crooks scored his first goal for the club during a win 4-0 against Histon. The goal led to him being granted an extension on his loan to the close in the current season. Crooks was also permitted to participate in the club’s promotion campaign. For the subsequent season 2012-13 Crooks got the 36, but the player did not appear in the first team. On December 7, 2012 Crooks together with James Burke, joined Radcliffe Borough on loan until the middle of January. Crooks displayed a stunning performance during his time at Radcliffe Borough, particularly the time he scored a two-goal win against Clitheroe. The next day, Crooks made his return to Huddersfield Town.
He did not make another appearance for Huddersfield that season and joined Hartlepool United on a month’s emergency loan on 21 October 2014 as defensive cover. After making three appearance for the club, it announced that Crooks would make a return to the club following an expiry of a month loan with Hartlepool United. Three days after returning from his loan spell, he was sent on loan to fellow League Two side Accrington Stanley until 3 January. On 2 February 2015, Crooks left Huddersfield Town after having his contract terminated by mutual consent.
