- He is a South African rugby union player for the Sharks in Super Rugby and in the Currie Cup and the Sharks XV in the Rugby Challenge. His primary position is centre but it was also his position as a flanker early in his career.
After the end of the Varsity Shield, Louw was included in the Sharks XV squad for the 2015 Vodacom Cup. Louw made his first-class debut on the 17th of April, 2015 as a substitute for the Sharks XV in their 13-36 loss in the SWD Eagles’ 13-36 loss SWD Eagles in George. He was then promoted to the starting line-up for his first home match with Boland Cavaliers Boland Cavaliers a week later and scored two tries in a win of 52-12 in Empangeni. Another attempt was scored in the next game against Griquas in a loss of 24-27 and he played another match for the third time in following a week in the match against The Eastern Province Kings in the final game during the season. The team placed last in the Southern Section log, failing to reach the quarterfinals.
He was included in their squad for the 2016 Currie Cup Premier Division, but didn’t feature for the team, instead making five starts for the Sharks U21 in the 2016 Under-21 Provincial Championship. At the end of October 2016, he was included in the Sharks Super Rugby squad for the 2017 season.
Louw was named in the Sharks Super Rugby squad for the 2016 season, but didn’t feature in any matches for the team. Instead, he continued his development with the UKZN Impi in the 2016 Varsity Shield, making seven appearances. He scored one try against UFH Blues and two against TUT Vikings as his team won seven of their eight matches. UKZN Impi would have finished joint-top of the log with Wits, but they had 12 points deducted for fielding an ineligible player, therefore missing out on the title play-offs and a shot at promotion to the Varsity Cup.
After graduating from high college, Louw was transferred into Durban in order to be a part of in the Sharks academy. Louw started the first three games in the Sharks U19’s 2014 Provincial Championships as a flanker, before moving to the backline center position, which he was a regular player for the remainder of the year. He played in eleven of the 12 games during the normal season and scored tries during their games in the matches against Leopards U19 as well as Blue Bulls U19 as his team placed fourth on the table to qualify for the semi- final position. Louw also played in the semi-final but he was unable to prevent his team from losing the match 20-43 against the Blue Bulls.

Louw was born in Bloemfontein and played for his country in the Free State Cheetahs at schoolboy level. He was a part of them from the beginning of elementary school, during the Under-13 Craven Week of the year 2008. In high school He was twice picked to represent the Free State at the Under-18 Craven Week the most prestigious college rugby union tournament within South Africa, playing at the 2012 event in Port Elizabeth where he scored a goal in their match against the Falcons and also at an event held in 2013 in Polokwane the event was where the player was employed as a flanker, and scored to a score in their loss in the match against the Pumas.
Louw was once again included as a member of his Sharks XV squad – participating in the 2016 Currie Cup qualification series that effectively took over it with the Vodacom Cup – and made six appearances. After a brief appearance on the bench in the match against The Border Bulldogs, he made his debut of the season in a match against Namibian team the Welwitschias in Umlazi where he scored the first hat-trick of his professional career in a win of 48-18. He also made four appearances for the team with tries scored in games in the games against Western Province and Griquas as they finished in the tenth spot in the table.
At the start of 2015, Louw played Varsity Shield rugby with UKZN Impi. He started four of their eight matches during the regular season, scoring eight tries. He scored hat-tricks in matches against the TUT Vikings and the UFH Blues and single tries against UWC and Wits, topping the try-scoring charts for his side and fourth overall in the competition. UKZN Impi finished in second spot on the log to qualify for the final, in which Louw started and helped his side to a 29–24 victory over Wits to win the title for the first time.
