He began his season playing for University side NWU Pukke in the 2012 Varsity Cup. He was part of seven teams and scored a try when NWU reached the semi- finals of the tournament, where they fell to the eventual winner UP Tuks. Following NWU’s participation in that contest, Fourie reverted to the Leopards Senior side playing four games in their 2012 Vodacom Cup tournament. He was among their principal players during the 2011 Currie Cup First Division campaign which saw them play 13 times. His first senior attempt during their round Nine clash with the Griffons and then followed it up with another one in their following game with the Boland Cavaliers. The Leopards ended up fourth on the table and progressed to the semi-finals of their tournament, but were defeated 27-50 by the Eastern Province Kings in Port Elizabeth.
Fourie returned to George for the 2015 to join the team he represented at youth level, the SWD Eagles. He was included in their squad for the 2015 Vodacom Cup and made his debut by starting their opening match of the season, a 34–17 victory against the Free State XV.
He joined Kimberley-based side Griquas for the 2016 season.
In August of 2011, Fourie made his debut in the 2011 Currie Cup Premier Division. He was not a substitute during their game against the Pumas however, he did make an appearance on the bench for their subsequent match, which was which ended in a loss of 18-32 to Griquas. After two more appearances on the bench, he was able to make his debut Currie Cup start for the Leopards against the Free State Cheetahs in Bloemfontein. He played eight games in the Currie Cup Premier Division; but, as the Leopards only registering one win throughout the season to finish last of the league and be relegated into the First Division, this turned into his sole appearances at this stage.

Fourie played high school football at Hoerskool Outeniqua, where he played in more than 60 games. He also progressed through stages of age at the SWD Eagles, earning call-ups to play for them at under-16 Grant Khomo Week in 2006 as well as the Under-18 Academy week in 2007, and the Craven Week for Under- 18s in 2008. These events also led to him being selected for the South African Under-18 Elite squad in 2008.
After graduating from high school, Fourie began his studies as a student at North-West University in Potchefstroom. He was the hooker reserve of the Leopards U21 team that participated at the Under-21 Provincial Championship before being selected as a member of the Leopards senior squad to play in the Vodacom Cup competition. He was substitute in their opening match of the season which was a win by 27-21 over the Border Bulldogs. He started his first game the following week , against the other Eastern Cape side, the Eastern Province Kings, but was unable to stop his team from losing by 25-31. He also made an appearance in their two subsequent matches in the clash against Free State Cheetahs and the SWD Eagles.
Fourie made four appearances for the NWU Pukke during the 2013 Varsity Cup competition, this time narrowly missing out on a semi-final spot. He didn’t play any matches for the remainder of 2013, but returned in 2014 to make five appearances for NWU Pukke as they reached the final of the competition, only to lose 33–39 to UCT Ikey Tigers in dramatic fashion. He made two appearances for the Leopards during the 2014 Currie Cup First Division, helping them top the log, only to lose to the Falcons in the semi-final.
