Marika Vunibaka is one of the most popular and richest Rugby Union Player who was born on November 3, 1974 in Levuka, Eastern, Fiji. Marika “Dawainavesi” Vunibaka (born 3 November 1974) is a Fijian former union rugby player. He played for Fiji’s Fiji national team numerous times including the 1999 Rugby World Cup in Wales as well as the 2003 Rugby World Cup in Australia.
Vunibaka, who played for two seasons (2015-2016) for the Leeton Phantoms in Southern Inland NSW the club he was hired as the head coach in 2017. Vunibaka helped the club win their first Club Championship and 1st Grade to an unbeaten home and away seasons and their first appearance in the grand final since 1998, where it was the Leeton Phantoms held on to beat the Wagga Wagga Waratahs to secure their second 1st Grade Premiership and first since 1991.
Vunibaka made his debut in the Test for Fiji in a game in the match against Canada at Vancouver. He was later included in the Fijian team to play in the 1999 Rugby World Cup in Wales in Wales, where he scored a score during the pool game against Canada. He was then included in the 2003 Rugby World Cup squad, and scored a goal in their win against Japan.

Vunibaka was signed by Leicester for a trial in 1997. He scored a hat-trick of three tries in his first appearance in the team with Loughborough Students, he was the first Leicester player to score a hat-trick on his debut since 1935. The player was not able to get an UK work permit, so he was not able to play in games that were competitive and quit the club.
Vunibaka was a player for Fiji at the level of rugby sevens between 1997 and 2008, and was one of only a handful of sevens players who played for the three Rugby World Cup Sevens, 1997 2001, 2005 and 1997. Fiji was the winner of its World Cup in both 1997 as well as 2005. He was the highest scorer at 1997’s World Cup.
