Gallo represented Ontario at the national championships in 1997, 1998 and 1999. She played in university for the University of Guelph Guelph Gryphons as well as the University of Alberta Alberta Pandas. She was awarded the Guelph University Female Athlete of the Year award in 1998 and OUA All-Star Awards in 1997, 1998. Gallo has a doctorate in muscle physiology/biochemistry from the University of Alberta.
She was vice-captain of the Canadian Women’s Senior 15’s National Team from 1999 to 2010. She earned 55 caps during her time with the national team and represented Canada at the 2006 and 2002 World Cups. She was a two-year member of the Canadian Women’s National Seven’s Team (2008-2010) and was named team captain. In 2009, she led her country to its first Rugby World Cup Sevens. She was a wing player in 15s and a hooker in 7s.
She was inducted in the Rugby Canada Hall of Fame in 2018 in the player category. Gallo is the second woman to be inducted into the Rugby Canada Hall of Fame. Gallo is considered on of the top ten North American women rugby union players. Her team nickname is “the Tank”.
