Lyn was first scouted because of her voice by an agency. She then made her debut under Lee Se-jin and released an album. The album was not well-received and was little known. Lyn took some time to practice singing. Lyn, her first album “Have You Ever Had A Broken Heart?” was her return to music in 2002. It was hugely successful, and it was able to propel her to the top R&B solo female singers of the year. Lyn’s second album, Can U See the Bright, was released after a two-year hiatus. It was a huge success, exceeding her previous album, which featured her hit single “saranghaessjanha”, (Used To love). The song was covered by Lee Seung-gi, another popular singer, on her album “The Pride of the Morning”, which was released in late 2006. Lyn’s third album, The Pride of the Morning was released on March 7, 2007. In 2009, Lyn made a comeback with her fifth album, ‘Let go, let in, it’s a new day’. She released her seventh album, titled ‘Love Fiction’ in early 2012.

She sang “Back in Time”, the theme song to the period drama Moon Embracing the Sun in 2012. Then she sang “My Destiny”, for My Love from Star. She won the “Best Original Soundtrack Award” at the 50th Baeksang Arts Awards 2014. She is the first to win the category. She sang “Just One Day” in 2015 for the melodrama Mask. “Such Person”, with 4MEN’s Shin Young Jae, was followed by “Such Person”, for Oh My Venus. She sang “With You,” for the drama Descendants of the Sun in 2016. She then sang “Love Story”, the main soundtrack to The Legend of the Blue Sea. Hanhae collaborated with her on “LOVE”, an album track from Are You Human Too?

Lyn collaborated with singer The One at a China programme, “I Am A Singer 3”. The episode was broadcast on 27 March 2015.
