After his time in the IHL, he was employed as a professional Scout for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (1998) to 2005) and then later as a Scout with the Vancouver Canucks (2005 to 2016).
He was a broadcaster at RDS and then a scout amateur for the Nordiques. Later, he was added to a six man coaching roster under Pierre Page, which included Andre Savard and Don Jackson as well as Jacques Cloutier and Clement Jodoin. In 1995-1996, he was Moncton’s original coach and general manager for the Moncton Alpines QMJHL franchise. DeBlois was later an assistant coach for the Kansas City Blades of the International Hockey League (IHL). He coached there for two seasons.

These were the New York Rangers (1977-1979, 1986-1989 and 1989-1989), Colorado Rockies (79-1981 and 1992), Winnipeg Jets (1981-1984) and 1992), Montreal Canadiens (1986-1986), Quebec Nordiques (1989-1990), and Toronto Maple Leafs (1990-1992). The Canadiens won the Stanley Cup in 1986 and he also played in the Stanley Cup Final with the Rangers in 1979. DeBlois was a Jets captain for two seasons, and also served as an assistant (Montreal and New York). In the 1986-87 season, he scored his 200th NHL career goal against his former team, Montreal Canadiens.
DeBlois, a Quebec native, was born in Joliette. He was drafted eighth in the 1977 NHL Entry Draft. John Ferguson, Sr., the Rangers general manager, chose DeBlois over Mike Bossy because “Bossy wasn’t sufficiently checked for the NHL.” DeBlois was a Canadian major junior player of distinction in the mid- seventies. He had great numbers with the Sorel Black Hawks. During his final junior season in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, he won the Michel Briere Memorial trophy as league MVP.
