Luca Tramontin, born 22 February 1966 in Italy, is a former Italian rugby union footballer and television sports personality. He is also the creator and cowriter of “Sport Crime”, a TV series. He has also played for Hungary, Switzerland, and Italy. He also plays Australian rules football, and ice hockey. He has also appeared on Eurosport’s programs including Total Rugby. He co-hosted the Oval Bin web sports program with Daniela Scalia.
In 1985, Tramontin was a member of the 1st Division club Rugby Casale. He was a second rower for seven seasons. After a brief stint with Occhiali Vogue Belluno which reached Serie A, he returned to Casale due to disciplinary problems. He traveled to Australia in 1989 for the New England Rugby Union Cup. There he met with Aussie Rules, Cricket League, and Rugby League. In order to improve his ball handling, Colin Price, then coach of the New England Rugby Union Cup in Glen Innes, New South Wales, advised Luca that he train twice a week with the rugby league team. Tramontin reflected on his Australian trip and said that “those awkward hours spent in the park opened my mind forever”. He would later leave Rugby Union to learn the Australian games. After obtaining the 1st Degree, Tramontin biked through Thailand, Malaysia, and returned to Casale late, underweight, in the 1990 off season. He was therefore relegated from the bench to a low-rate season.
From 1992-2006, he played on various clubs in Piacenza, Viadana, Brescia, New York City, and three different clubs in Milano.

In 2008, Tramontin left rugby union to play Australian rules football (abbreviated as Aussie Rules or Orules) in the summer, and amateur ice hockey in the winter. He participated on AFL Italia for nine caps and was the captain when the national team participated in the 2009 European Cup held in Samobor, Croatia. For the 2010 European Cup, he represented AFL Switzerland as the team made its debut; he served as the team’s coach.
