Kari Bruwelheide is one of the most popular and richest Anthropologist who was born on March 16, 1967 in Lincoln, Minnesota, United States. When the fort’s original location was located, Kelso invited Owsley to assist in the excavation process and the identification of skeletal remains that were found at the burial site which was built after the the London’s Virginia Company settled in Jamestown in 1607. Owsley collaborated alongside David Riggs, curator of the Jamestown Museum, to research the health and demography of the colonists of the 17th century. Their task included separating the remains of human beings and separating English colonists and Native Americans, in order to ensure repatriation was which was made mandatory by the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA).
Through scientific analysis, Owsley studied skeletons excavated from graveyards between 1940 and 1955, and also individual remains discovered in places that were not cemeteries. All remains been kept at the museum for a number of years. In the 1950s five skeletons were found in Jamestown Colony and identified as Native American. The forensic analysis that was performed after discovering the fort’s original location identified those remains into African. In support of the research an analysis of a number of documents from the past, such as logs from ships as well as correspondence between early colonists established that first Africans arrived in 1619 aboard a vessel that came from Holland. The research conducted by Owsley recorded the earliest documented Africans within The British North American colonies to the present day.

Bruwelheide graduated from Como Park Senior High School in 1985. She attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, graduating in 1989, with a Bachelor’s degree, double majoring in English and Anthropology. In 1992, she earned a Master of Arts degree in Physical Anthropology from the University of Nebraska’s College of Arts and Sciences in Lincoln.

The consumption of sweeteners caused an adverse effect to her dental health.

In order to identify the victims for their families, they needed to determine the age, sex, race, and height of each piece of human remains, as well as the cause of death.
