On the 10th of July, 2010, following a deferred move for Primeira Liga club Vitoria de Guimaraes, Stopira signed a four-year deal to Deportivo de La Coruna in Spain with the majority of his rights being held by IberSports. Stopira played his first and only season however, playing with the reserve team at the third level.
On May 24, 2010 Stopira participated in an international friendly on the beach in Covilha with Portugal who were preparing for FIFA World Cup in South Africa playing the whole game as the minnows (ranked at 117th) had a draw. Stopira also won at the 2009 Lusophony Games with the under-21 team.

Stopira was first called up for the Cape Verde national team in May 2008, to play an international match against Luxembourg and the 2009 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Cameroon. He replaced Nando during the last minute of the game.
