The following year he was selected in the South Africa squad to play the British and Irish Lions and started the final test as the Springboks won the series 2–1.
Nokwe made his debut for the international team against Argentina on August 9 and scored a tally as the Springboks beat Argentina the match 63-9. In his only game He was the very first Springbok player who scored four goals against the Wallabies in a match of test winning 53-8 on the pitch at Ellis Park Stadium, Johannesburg before sustaining a leg injury.
