Jon Gittens is one of the most popular and richest English footballer who was born on January 22, 1964 in Moseley, England, United Kingdom. Jonathan Antoni Gittens (22 January 1964 10 May 2019) was an English professional footballer who played for Swindon Town as well as for Southampton, Middlesbrough, Portsmouth, Torquay United and Exeter City.
Gittens was a formidable player in the middle of Swindon’s defense He also formed a strong team along with Colin Calderwood. He was known to be rough at times and was always likely be sent off (but was not sent off twice). His two red cards occurred in a loss of 4-0 against Leeds United on 23 September 1989, and the following year when he was beaten 5-1 at Barnsley.
In March 1991, after 126 games for the Robins, Chris Nicholl re-signed him for Southampton, and he returned to The Dell a day before the transfer deadline, this time for a fee of £400,000.
Having again failed to establish himself at The Dell, he joined promotion chasing Middlesbrough on loan in February 1992.
In his four years in Swindon the club made it to playoffs two times (in 1988-89, and in 1989-90) but were unable to make it in the First Division. Swindon Town won the Second Division playoff final in 1989 and 1990 however Sunderland were promoted after the Swindon board acknowledged a string infractions to the financial system.

Gittens joined Gittens signed with the Saints in the month of October, 1985, for a cost of P10,000. At the time of his signing, the player was not a pro, but he was fast and considered an option to watch in the near future. He made his debut in the league with a 2-0 win against Birmingham City on 19 April

Although he played in the final eight games of the 1990–91 season, replacing the injured Kevin Moore alongside Neil Ruddock, the following season, under new manager Ian Branfoot, he only made eleven appearances, generally as cover for Richard Hall.

Gittens joined the coaching staff at Fareham Town in December 2001 and was appointed as manager in June 2002. Whilst manager at Fareham, he was charged with misconduct for using “foul” language against a referee’s assistant on Easter Monday 2004. Gittens was sent to the stands for calling the assistant a “chicken nugget”.
