Joel Banal (born February 6 Joel Banal (born February 6, 1958) is an ex- Filipino pro basketball player and former head coach for the Philippine Basketball Association. Presently, he serves as the director for the Pilipinas Commercial Basketball League (PCBL).
Following his departure, Banal focused on his family-owned business of a school, Domuschola International School where Banal was president until 2015.
The year 2011 saw him took over the longtime head coach Tim Cone as coach of the Alaska Aces after serving as Cone’s longtime assistant. He resigned from the post in the year 2012.

Banal played in the NCAA basketball tournament for The Mapua Institute of Technology, before he made the leap into pro basketball for the Great Taste Coffee Makers in the PBA between 1982 and 1985 when Banal suffered an injury. After his semi-retirement from PBA Banal was employed as the circulation director for The Philippine Star
He was the previous director of teams in the NCAA tournament, Mapua Cardinals in the NCAA, Ateneo Blue Eagles in the UAAP (won the 2002 UAAP title) as well as The Casino Rubbing Alcohol and Hapee Nenaco in the PBL as well as the Talk ‘N ‘ Text Phone Pals of the PBA which he won championships across all four leagues. He also serves as the assistant coach for Pasig Pirates. Pasig Pirates in the Metropolitan Basketball Association.
In 2016, Banal returned to basketball after he appointed as the league commissioner of Pilipinas Commercial Basketball League starting this 2016 Chairman’s Cup. He will take over the position from Ato Badolato.
