Robert John Blackman (born 26 April 1956) is a Conservative Party politician serving as the Executive Secretary of the 1922 Committee from 2012 (serving together alongside Nigel Evans until January 8, 2020, when Nigel was appointed 2nd Vice chairman of Ways and Means), and also as the MP (MP) from Harrow East since 2010. He also served as elected the Greater London Assembly member for Brent & Harrow between 2004 between 2004 and in 2008.

He did not win his Conservative Party candidate for the in Brent as well as Harrow in Harrow of the London Assembly at the 2000 elections, and lost to Labour Party candidate Toby Harris. He was subsequently defeated by Harris in the 2004 assembly elections , and was elected the conservative’s group Whip in the London Assembly. The 2008 elections saw Blackman was defeated by Navin Shah, the Labour contestant, Navin Shah by a 1,649 vote.

In 2012, when the Conservative Party launched its consultation into legalising same-sex marriages, Blackman suggested that David Cameron should resurrect Section 28, stating that he strongly believed that “Section 28 was the right rules to have in school so that we should not in any way shape or form promote same-sex relationships” and said he would be “very opposed” to seeing teachers being forced to say same-sex relationships are equivalent to heterosexual relationships.

Blackman was unsuccessfully a Conservative candidate for the Tokyngton Ward of London Borough of Brent Council in 1986. A year later he was a candidate in the Preston Ward and was elected.
