Shoemark’s second stint with the Highlanders proved much more fruitful than the first, as he earned a starting spot with the club and played some of the finest rugby of his career. Shoemark relocated back to New Zealand in 2006 and signed as a player with Hawke’s Bay, but was exiled from this year’s Air New Zealand Cup after being injured to the neck in a severe way. Recovered from injury in the year following, Shoemark finally began to realize his potentialand scored six tries from 12 starts in the Magpies in the 2007 Air New Zealand Cup.
