It was there that he met Nandarani Devi, a Hare Krishna devotee who ran an orphanage raising children from both sides of Sri Lanka’s ethnic conflict between Singhalese and Tamil Hindu communities. Inspired to help expand the children’s home, he produced and directed the film Amma Means Mother. When the film was released on a Vimeo site, it received over 89,000 hits the first day. The film is narrated by F.Murray Abraham and features music by Nick Lowe, The Smithereens, Astrud Gilberto and Trini Lopez.
