The year 2014 was the first time Masimla received a spot in the Stormers more extensive practice group before the start of 2014’s Super Rugby season and subsequently in the final squad. However, a severe wrist injury sustained during the first game in the 2013 Vodacom Cup competition against the Boland Cavaliers ruled him out from any participation in this year’s Super Rugby side.
2013 was the year that Masimla got a place in the Western Province squad for the 2013 Vodacom Cup competition. Masimla made his debut debut in the opening game in the 2013 season, against the Boland Cavaliers in Ceres, his first appearance following two months against Eastern Province Kings in Port Elizabeth and then was a part of all eight Western Province games in the competition.

After having played in the Boland Cavaliers side at the Under-18 Craven week tournament in 2010 Masimla travelled from Johannesburg in order to be a part of the Golden Lions U19 side in 2011. But, after only an entire season with the team, he was able to return in the Western Cape, where he played Varsity Shield rugby for UWC in 2012 and 2013.
He also was a part of his Western Province U21 side in the provincial championships for the under-21 age group both in 2013 and 2012 aiding them to make two finals each season , and also winning the title in 2013.
