Gerald Gordon Keddy (born February 15th 1953) is a Canadian politician from Canada. Keddy was a former Christmas tree-grower and offshore drill operator and was a member of the Parliament from 1997 until 2015, initially in the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada and then later, with the successor to it, the Conservative Party of Canada. Keddy was the chair of the Standing Committee on Fisheries, and then a long-term Parliamentery secretary for International Trade, Atlantic Canada Opportunities and National Revenue and Agriculture. The wife of Keddy, Judy Streatch, is an ex- Nova Scotia MLA and cabinet minister.

Keddy’s district was home to many historical lighthouses, and is actually called”the “Lighthouse Route”. He authored within the House of Commons a bill that had come out of the Senate and was dubbed known as the Heritage Lighthouse Protection Act, until the Parliament was dissolved in 2007. Keddy approved of the Act when it was introduced again by the MP Larry Miller in 2008, that led to the Royal Assent on May 29, 2008.

In 2009, Keddy used a ceremonial cheque at a funding announcement which contained a large Conservative party logo and was in the blue colour scheme associated with the party. Usually such cheques carry the Government of Canada logo. The use of the partisan cheque was found to be “inappropriate” but not “illegal” by the Ethics Commissioner

Keddy did not stand for re-election in 2015 and retired from parliament.

A member of the Stephen Harper’s caucus Keddy served as chairman of the Commons Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans. On October 10 2007 Keddy was appointed as the Parliamentary Secretary of the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency and was later appointed an official secretary to the minister of International Trade and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Agriculture and the minister of National Revenue. Keddy also served as trustee of the school board for the school board in New Ross, Nova Scotia.
