Gareth Owen Llewellyn (born 27 February 1969) was a Welsh former union rugby player who earned the record of the most caps in Wales as an official lock. The record set by him for Wales caps was broken by Gareth Thomas in May 2007. He was the brother to Glyn Llewellyn also participated in the in international rugby unions for Wales.

He was captain of Wales for seven times and was a part of the three Rugby World Cups – 1995 1999, and 2003. He played his final game in the national team of Wales during November 2004, in New Zealand. It was due to his longevity that he was able to play international rugby for three decades and with eight different coaches. After the 2004-05 season the player declared his resignation from international rugby.

At the start of the 2008-09 campaign, Llewellyn played alongside the role of coach in the Welsh First Division club Tonmawr. In the 2009-2010 season, he has been the head coach of South West One West side Thornbury RFC working alongside Bristol’s Darren Crompton and Rob Higgitt who was previously with Bristol Rugby, the Scarlets and Worcester RFC.
