Derrick Parker is one of the most popular and richest English footballer who was born on February 7, 1957 in Wallsend, New South Wales, Australia. Derrick Parker (born 7 February 1957) is an English retired professional footballer who was striker. He was part of six teams of the Football League during his career and also played for an extended time playing in Finland playing with Haka Valkeakoski. Also, he played with a variety of non-league clubs.

He played for North Ferriby United, Altrincham, Northwich Victoria and Frickley Athletic before joining Hyde United in 1991. He was a part of three league matches and scored a strike for Hyde United before departing to sign with Bishop Auckland. After leaving Bishop Auckland, Parker had periods at Irlam Town and Ossett Town before resigning from the game and returning to his home in Barnsley. He is now a commentator on Barnsley matches for local radio

In his second stint during his second spell at Turf Moor, Parker played for the club 43 times and scored 10 goals for the side. Along with many others, Parker quit Turf Moor at the end of the season of 1987 following the team barely avoided being relegated from the Football League Fourth Division with an impressive win in the final day against Orient. Not able to find a team that was in England, Parker joined Finnish team Haka Valkeakoski. But his time in Finland was short-lived , as Parker was a part of Rochdale at the midpoint of 1988-87 season. He was let go after the club was hit by the financial crisis in December 1987 . He had played seven league games during the time.

Parker’s career started in 1974, when he was promoted from the youth team to first-team of Burnley. He played in six games over three seasons for Burnley with two scoring goals before being transferred into Southend United in 1977. He was a regular first-team player in the first team at Roots Hall, making 129 league appearances in only three seasons, scoring 43 goals during the process.

His performance for Southend led to him being transferred from Barnsley at the end of summer 1980. He played more than 100 league matches for the club prior to becoming a member of Oldham Athletic in 1983. He was in Boundary Park for two seasons , and played more than 50 games in the league at the club. After the departure from Oldham at the end of 1985 Parker played a brief time at Doncaster Rovers, where he only played five games until he returned to his original team, Burnley, in 1985.
