Searle taught outdoor education and physical teaching in St Margaret’s School, Exeter, Devon and then at Claremont Fan Court School, Esher, Surrey. She quit teaching after establishing her own company, the Well Hung Art Company Ltd in 1999 along with two of her colleagues, who showcased the work of lesser well- known artists on the internet and also sold original artwork to the market for corporations.

Searle was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire in the 2002 Birthday Honours. She was appointed Member of the Royal Victorian Order (MVO) in the 2014 New Year Honours for her work with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

In 2003, Searle was invited to be a trustee of leading youth charity the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. At that time she was the only female and the youngest board member. After a decade on the Board of Trustees, Searle has recently stepped down.

She was married to the first time in 1999 but after divorced in 2004, she divorced him. She is currently married and is living at Plymouth along with her spouse whom she has two children.

Debra Louise Searle MVO , MBE (born on July 8, 1975), also known as Newbury, and later Veal she is British adventurer, TV host as well as a motivational speaker and author. The year 2002 was the first time Searle raced across the Atlantic on her own after her wife and her rower Andrew Veal, was rescued from their rowing boat made of plywood.

Always a sports enthusiast, Searle represented her county in netball and tennis, and also was a representative for her home region of the West of England in lacrosse when she was in her teens. She was later able to earn an entry into the Great Britain Dragon Boat Racing Team in 1998, for the European Championships in Rome and the 1999 World Championships in Nottingham winning gold and bronze medals, as well as silver and gold.
