Carsten Eggers is one of the most popular and richest Sculptor who was born on May 18, 1957 in Stade, Germany. Carsten Eggers, a German sculptor/paier, was born 18 May 1957. In northern Germany and the Netherlands, there are approximately 20 bronze sculptures by him. One of his most well- known pieces is a bronze bust Rudi Carrell, and another monument to Max Schmeling, a boxing legend.
The result is amazing: a slightly overexaggerated stomach, some more wrinkles on the forehead, and a longer nose. The bronze image looks better than the original. Eggers’ work is called “whole-body portraits” by art critics. [Carsten Eggers’ sculptures were created by an artistic composition. They defy convention and are brightly colored. His forte is to capture human strength and vulnerability. A true artist who is independent of current trends. He sees his art as a memorial to serenity, which is opposed to the hectic pace of modern life.
Eggers’ first sculptures were stylized. This is evident in the 1986 bronze Die Wachenden (The Watchers), which was commissioned to him by Stade. Later, he embraced realism and all his bronzes are now displayed in public places. Eggers makes clay models first of his subjects. These include busts from famous people. They are first cast in plaster of Paris, then in bronze. His clients include municipalities and private patrons of the arts. Eggers’ work always has humans at the center. Many of Eggers’ sculptures depict people in everyday life. They are all made from live models. The Zwillingsbruder (Twin Brothers) bronze sculptures of Henry the Priest (nl), who was the founder of Altes Land, are two of his most significant works. One statue, Monch Heinrich (Henry, the Monk), is outside Steinkirchen’s church. The other Priester Hendrik (Henry, the Priest) was outside Rijnsaterwoude (Netherlands), and was erected 2001.

Carsten Eggers is the son of impressionist painter Richard Eggers. He was born in Stade in Lower Saxony and grew up near Jork in Altes Land, an area of reclaimed marshland along the Elbe, downstream from Hamburg. Deciding against an academic career he studied all aspects of painting with his father, an accomplished artist who in 1975 was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany (Bundesverdienstkreuz am Bande) for his life’s work. Carsten Eggers, a 17-year-old boy, designed the municipal coat of arms in Jork. He had his first exhibit of paintings in 1979, along with his father, in Jork.
He began to study sculpture after 1980, under Professor Franz Rotter in Cuxhaven. From 1983, he studied sculpture under Karl Heinz Turk at Nurtingen’s Freie Kunstakademie. Eggers defied conventions and remained a private person. He did not belong to any art associations and shunned the “establishment” of the arts. Carsten Eggers lived and worked in a former farm in Nottensdorf, in the rural district Stade since 1991.
Typical characteristics of Eggers sculptures are the casual poses and a very slight exaggeration. As the scholar and art critic Klaus Frerichs said, “Sein Realismus scheint darin zu bestehen, dass man zu erkennen glaubt, was die Figuren darstellen. Aber sie sind weder Abbilder noch Karikaturen. Eggers zeichnet Begriffe zu Bildern. Mimik, Gestik, Haltung – nichts ist Zufall.” [His realism seems to be such that you think you know what the figures represent. But they are neither copies nor caricatures. Eggers portrays concepts as images. Facial expressions, gestures, posture –nothing is random.]
