Alongside her position as a parliamentarian, Bergamini has been serving as a member of the Italian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe since 2008. She is a member of the Committee on culture and Chair of the Sub-Committee for Media and Information Society. In her capacity as Chair she was the Assembly’s reporteur on the management of artificial intelligence from 2019. She is also the President since the 17th of March, 2009 of the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe.
Bergamini joined in the Italian Chamber of Deputies in 2008 as an associate of The People of Freedom political movement. She has since is a member of the Committee on Transports, Postal Services and Communication. In November of 2011, she was elected vice-president for the inquiry commission that investigates counterfeiting and piracy.
