David Wheater is one of the most popular and richest English footballer who was born on February 14, 1987 in Redcar, England, United Kingdom. David James Wheater (born 14 February 1987) is an English professional footballer who is a player at Oldham Athletic as a defender. He is a center back however, he can also play at right back too.
He was signed by Wolverhampton Wanderers on a three-month loan in September. But he was back at Middlesbrough on the 15th of November after only making one first team appearance. There were loan periods with Doncaster Rovers, scoring once against Gillingham and Darlington. In the 2007-08 pre-season, Jonathan Woodgate suffered an injury that let Wheater start in his spot during the preseason. The form of Wheater in the pre-season led to him being a part of the starting XI spot for the opening day of the Premier League fixture – his improvement in form continued and resulted in the move to Woodgate for Tottenham Hotspur, as Wheater was the first name to appear on the ‘Boro’s team sheet. Wheater was selected in an under-strength Middlesbrough team playing against Bristol City in the FA Cup third round. He Wheater saved his team by scoring the goal when he surged forward from behind and scored the winning goal in a 2-1 win at Ashton Gate Stadium. He signed a three-and-a-half-year contract extension in February 2008, which tied him to Middlesbrough until June 2011.
On 15 October 2008, Wheater was called up into the England senior team as a replacement for John Terry when the England captain withdrew due to an injury picked up playing for Chelsea. Wheater’s first real taste of senior international football came when he was named as a substitute for the games against France and Trinidad and Tobago in 2008 but did not leave the bench on both occasions.
On 20 March 2008, Wheater was called up to the England squad by boss Fabio Capello, however he was not included in Capello’s final 23.
Wheater began his professional career at Middlesbrough in the year 2004, having completed his training with the club’s youth team. Wheater had three loan stints out of Middlesbrough in the 2006-07 season at Doncaster Rovers, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Darlington (loan). A calf accident to Jonathan Woodgate at the start of the next season was the catalyst that saw Wheater becoming a frequent for Middlesbrough and he made a total of 140 games in the league for the club before transferring with Bolton Wanderers in January 2011.

Wheater has played for England as an under-16 player, under-17 and under-18 and, most recently, at the under-21 level. Unfortunately, Middlesbrough were relegated at the end of the 2008–09 season, but Wheater decided to stay to try to help the club regain promotion.
