Ling was a member of The Charlottetown Abbies for three seasons and, in his third year the MRJHL at the age of 17 in 1991-92. In that time, he scored 33 goals 75 points and 300 PIM in just 30 games. Ling also played in eight games for the St. Michael’s Buzzers of the OHA and scored 19 points.
