Danny Morseu is one of the most popular and richest Australian basketball player who was born on January 1, 1958 in Thursday Island, Queensland, Australia. The Torres Strait Islander, Morseu was born in the year 1958 in Thursday Island in Far North Queensland. He grew up in Tamwoy which was a mission located on Thursday Island, where he lived without electricity or running water. He began playing basketball in school, and despite being dropped from his school’s team, he grew into an impressive and talented teenager. After finishing school, he relocated to Cairns where he played rugby and basketball leagues with local clubs.

He was inducted into the NBL Hall of Fame in 2002, Morseu was the first basketball player from Africa to be so honored. He was admitted to the Victoria University Sport Hall of Fame in 2007.

In December 2017, Morseu was appointed head coach of the Toowoomba Mountaineers QBL men’s side, the team he won a championship with in 1991.

He graduated in 1984 and graduated with the bachelor of Arts majoring in recreation from Footscray Institute of Technology. He worked in various capacities for the federal and state government agencies throughout Victoria and Queensland as well as in Indigenous health. He’s been an instructor for indigenous basketball players, such as Nathan Jawai and Patty Mills.

Danny Morseu (born 1 January 1958 on Thursday Island, Queensland) is a famous Australian Basketball player. He was for the Australian national basketball team at the 1984 Summer Olympics as well as the 1984 Summer Olympics.

Morseu was part of the Australian team during the 1988 Summer Olympics held in Moscow in which Australia was eighth. Then, in 1984’s Summer Olympics at Los Angeles, where Australia was seventh in their best Olympic performance to date. Morseu was the first Torres Strait Islander to represent Australia in the Olympic Games. He also played 12 international matches with Australia.

Morseu attracted the attention of National Basketball League coach Brian Kerle after playing a match against Kerle’s club, the Melbourne-based St Kilda Saints – on tour of North Queensland. Kerle convinced Morseu to move to Melbourne in 1978, where he played in St Kilda’s championship winning teams of 1979 and 1980. He played 217 NBL games in total, winning another NBL championship with the Brisbane Bullets in 1987.
