After only playing in six games throughout 2008 as a result of a semi- retirement, Prue was the captain of Lakeside until the minor league title in 2009, after the team ended the regular season in the top spot with a 22-4 mark. They then advanced to the SBL Grand Final, where they beat their opponents, the Perry Lakes Hawks 85-77. In the final game of the championship, Prue had 14 points and 12 rebounds. In the 30 games he played the team scored an average of 11.6 per game and 18.5 rebound per game.

Prue was a newcomer to the Lakeside Lightning having spent more time playing cricket as a child. The coach Andy Stewart turned him from an OK Division 1 player into a major player at the SBL level. Prue began his career with Lakeside within the SBL in 2003. He averaged 3.96 points as well as 6.4 rebounding over 24 contests. The year before, he scored 9.65 points as well as 18.5 rebound in 26 games with the Lightning. As of 2005, the player was part of nine games in his team, the Willetton Tigers, where he scored a career-high 14.56 points and 14.2 rebound.
