In the second portion in 2016, the player was a member of in the port Elizabeth-based Eastern Province Kings. Collopy was included in the team to play in the Currie Cup Premier Division and made his Currie Cup debut in their game against their rescheduled midweek opponent Griquas. He was brought on in the 54th minutes, and got his very first Currie Cup try in the final minute of the 2447 loss. He played one more game with his team, the Eastern Province Kings, coming in for the final five minutes of a 7-7 loss against The Golden Lions.

Collopy is a native of Cape Town, but grew up in KwaZulu-Natal where Collopy played numerous times in his schoolboy years. He was a part of the team in the under-13 Craven week of 2006 and under-16 Grant Khomo Week in 2009 and the Craven Week for the Under-18 age group in 2011.
He was part of the Sharks U21 teams between 2013 and 2014, with three appearances in the 2014 competition.
Collopy joined the Cape Town-based Western Province in 2016 and was named in their squad for the 2016 Currie Cup qualification series. He made his first class debut on 22 April 2016 by playing off the bench in a 36–31 victory over Free State XV in Round Three of the competition. His next appearance came in Round Nine, when he made his first senior start in a 43–34 victory over the Leopards. He played off the bench in five of their remaining six matches in the competition, scoring his first senior try in a 59–31 victory over the Falcons and a second in his final match for Western Province, a 52–26 victory over the Border Bulldogs. Western Province finished top of the log in the competition, winning thirteen of their fourteen matches.
