Conor Carey (born 26 September 1991) is an English-born Irish professional union rugby player. He is mostly prop. Carey currently is a player in the English Premiership side Worcester Warriors. He played previously for Irish provincial team Connacht as part of the Pro14 prior to that, and was a player in the Pro14 for Nottingham as well as Ealing Trailfinders, in the English Championship. Born in Belfast, Carey started his career as a young player with Ulster and was a representative for Ireland internationally until levels below 20.
Even with Ealing’s demotion, Carey impressed enough to be promoted to Nottingham. Carey was on debut the first day of 2014-15’s Championship in the form of an extra for Bedford Blues after 75 minutes. Carey went on to play in all 22 Nottingham’s Championship games throughout the entire season, and started with 17 matches.
Carey continued to play regularly in his second season, being primarily used as a replacement for Finlay Bealham. He featured in 18 of Connacht’s 21 games in the 2017–18 Pro14 and all seven games in the Challenge Cup. In December 2017, it was announced that Carey had signed an extension to his contract. In the 2018–19 season, he played 13 games in the Pro14 and four games in the Challenge Cup. In February 2019, it was announced that Carey would leave Connacht at the end of the 2018–19 season. He made a total of 54 competitive appearances in his three seasons with the team.
In February 2019, it was announced that Carey had signed for the Worcester Warriors. He joined the club ahead of the 2019–20 season.
After failing to make an appearance in not making an appearance in the Ulster Senior team Carey became a part of English Championship team Ealing Trailfinders in 2013, being birthed in Ealing and stayed at Ealing for two years. The team was upgraded from National League 1 in the previous season. Carey was selected to replace the first match of the campaign with London Scottish, making his debut as a bench player after the game lasted 58 minutes. Carey made 23 games for the Trailfinders throughout the season. However, Ealing ended up finishing last in the 2013-14 Championship and was relegated in National League 1.

Carey was a student at Methodist College in Belfast. He was a member of the school’s rugby team in 2008 and 2009, as part of the squad that took home the Ulster Schools Cup in 2008 as well as in 2009. Carey played in the club league with Ballymena during his early years and was also a player for Ballynahinch as part of the All-Ireland League, winning Division 1B together with the team in 2013.
Carey has been a part of Ireland at the international level for under-age players. He was named a player at levels under-18 and under-19 prior to being selected as part of the Ireland under-20 team to participate in the Six Nations Under 20s Championship. Carey was named as a substitute against Italy on February 4, 2011. He then made his debut next week against France.
It was announced in March 2016 that Carey had signed a deal with Irish provincial side Connacht and would join them ahead of the 2016–17 season. He was signed as a replacement for outgoing Irish international, Rodney Ah You. He played regularly in the early part of the season, starting six games in the 2016–17 Pro12 and playing in all of the side’s games in the Champions Cup, before suffering a serious injury against Wasps in December 2016. Carey returned from injury in May 2017 for the final game of the season against Munster.
