William Ronson (22 January 1957 8 April, 2015) was an English footballer who played twelve seasons in English leagues, one of which was the North American Soccer League, six in the Major Indoor Soccer League and seven more years playing in various lower divisions of outdoor and indoor leagues across the United States. He also was a coach at professional and collegiate levels.

He passed away of natural causes in his home located in Perry Hall, Baltimore County on the 8th of April, 2015.

The year 1993 was the time Ronson was named the coach in charge for the Goucher College NCAA Division III women’s soccer team. He was the coach for the team throughout the 1997 season, accumulating 41-44-4 records. Then, in 1994, he joined the team as an assistant coach for the Baltimore Bays. He quit Baltimore Bays at the end of 1995, to join Pittsburgh Stingers. Pittsburgh Stingers then returned as an assistant coach to the players of the Bays during the 1996-97 indoor season. After his retirement, Ronson had spells as assistant coach, and then the assistant general manager of the Baltimore Blast. In 2009 Ronson was elected to Baltimore Blast’s hall of fame. Ronson is the son of Fleetwood legendary Percy Ronson, began his career at Blackpool and made his debut in the month of March 1975, against Nottingham Forest. Ronson initially struggled to make it into the team, but eventually found himself in the starting line-up. The year 1978 saw him moved for a loan with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the North American Soccer League. The club was not able to stop the club from being relegated during the 1977-78 campaign and was able to stay for a second season at the club prior to joining Cardiff City for a fee of $130,000, which was an all-time record in the 1950s. He only missed a few games during his two years playing at Ninian Park before growing disenchanted at the lack of advancement and joining Wrexham.

The only time he played at Wrexham was a season that ended in relegation and he quit to join Barnsley. He was a popular player in the Yorkshire club but fell to Manager Allan Clarke and being loaned to Birmingham City before being released and returned to Blackpool under non-contract terms. He relocated from England to America after 1986, to be a part of the Baltimore Blast of the Major Indoor Soccer League. He was in Baltimore Blast over six years. The Blast fell apart at the close in the season 1991-1992. On February 9, 2009 the newly formed Blast was inducted by Ronson into their Hall of Fame. Then, in the summer of 1992, Ronson joined to the Tampa Bay Rowdies of the American Professional Soccer League. He was signed in 1994. was a member of with the Baltimore Bays of the USISL. On the 19th of November, 1992, he was a member of the Detroit Rockers of the National Professional Soccer League. At the end of September 1993 He signed with Baltimore Bays. Baltimore Bays as that team began preparations for 1993-94’s USISL indoor campaign. He was awarded the Rookie of the Year in 1994. He continued to play for the Bays and played the 1994 indoor and outdoor seasons as well as the 1994-95 indoor season. On July 26, 1995, he was signed by the Pittsburgh Stingers of the Continental Indoor Soccer League. On August 15, 1995 Ronson had an automobile accident, which forced his out the remainder of the year. He returned to the Bays in June, 1996 and was a member of his team, the Washington Warthogs of the CISL. After the 1996 indoor season, Ronson returned to the Bays in which he was coach of the players in the 1996-1997 USISL indoor league. The league was his top scorer and the league’s MVP. He was a member of the Baltimore Spirit in December, 1998. signed with his team the Baltimore Spirit on a 15-day contract.
