Asmaa Abdol-Hamid is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on November 22, 1981 in United Arab Emirates, Denmark. Abdol-Hamid has seven siblings. Her birthplace was in United Arab Emirates to parents who were of Palestinian descent. Her father was raised in the Lebanese refugees’ camp. Her family was also in Lebanon but they relocated in Saudi Arabia for a few years. The 1970s saw her family relocated in the United Arab Emirates before they began to contact Dansk Flygtningehjaelp during the mid- 1980s in response to police intimidation. Family members were given asylum in Denmark and relocated into Genner, Southern Jutland.

In 2005, she was elected deputy council member for the Odense city council, which is part of Odense’s Red-Green Alliance. Her first appearance in the attention of the media when she did not shake the hand of a male colleague instead placing her hand on her chest to greet her colleague.

In 2007, she announced her plans to run for the Folketing, gaining the candidacy for a Copenhagen seat for the Red-Green Alliance. She is listed seventh on the party’s parliamentary candidate list. Her candidacy caused debate in Denmark over the fact that she intends to serve wearing a hijab. She also received support from some imams during the elections. Although she was not elected, she may still appear in the parliament as a substitute for Johanne Schmidt-Nielsen. Pia Kjærsgaard, leader of the Danish People’s Party, threatened that “we” would throw Asmaa out of the Folketing if she were to stand at the pulpit and open a speech with an invocation to God.

She received an education in social work from the Odense University College of Lillebaelt and then worked as a the family director in Roskilde. Then she started a very popular girl’s club for girls. She’s currently working for Vollsmose.
