Alison Jane Sydor, a Canadian professional cross-country mountain biker, was born September 9, 1966. She started cycling at the age of 20 and graduated from the University of Victoria. She was awarded a silver medal in the 1996 Summer Olympics mountain bike event. She also won three gold medals at the world mountain bike championships (1994 in Vail Colorado, 1995 in Kirchzarten Germany, 1996 in Cairns Australia, and 2002 in Kaprun, Austria).
Sydor and Pia Sundstedt, Sydor’s teammate, won the Absa Cape Epic Women’s Category in 2008 Sydor won the Mixed Category in 2008 with Nico Pfitzenmaier.
In 2013, Sydor was inducted into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame.
Sydor was inducted into Mountain Bike Hall of Fame in September 2007.
