Zlata Ognevich is one of the most popular and richest Ukrainian singer who was born on January 12, 1986 in Murmansk, Murmansk Oblast, Russia. Ognevich was the daughter of Ukrainian parents and was born in Murmansk in 1986. Ognevich was raised in Sudak, a Crimean city. Ognevich, now 18, moved to Kiev at the age of 18 to further her music education. Ognevich graduated from Kiev’s Rheingold M. Gliere Music College. She began her third year at Rheingold by working with live bands. In addition, she did her own promotion work.
Zlata attempted to represent Ukraine at Eurovision Song Contest for the third time on 23 December 2012. She entered the Ukrainian national selection Evrobachennya 2013, – Natsionalyni vidbir, singing “Gravity”. Ognevich was awarded the right to represent Ukraine in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmo (Sweden) after she received maximum points from the jury and the televote.
At the competition, Ukraine qualified from the first semi-final on 14 May 2013, placing 3rd in a field of 16 songs and scoring 140 points. In the final, Ognevich and “Gravity” placed 3rd, scoring 214 points and receiving 12 points from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Croatia and Moldova.
During the 2014 pro-Russian conflict in Ukraine Ognevich and fellow Ukrainian singers Anastasia Prikhodko raised money for the 72nd Guards Mechanized Brigade.
She failed to win the Ukraine contest in 2011 and made her second attempt. The song was written in Ukrainian. The song she chose was “The Kukushka”, which came in second.
