Zhang Jilong is one of the most popular and richest Sports Administrator who was born on February 9, 1952 in Yantai, Shandong, China. Zhang Jilong, Chinese: Zhang Ji Long; pinyin as Zhang Jilong; born 9 February 1952), is a Chinese football administrator and the current senior vice president for Asian Football Confederation. From 2002 to 2011, he was Vice President of AFC and Senior Vice President between 11 January 2007 and 1 August 2011. After the resignation of Mohammed Bin Hammam, he was the acting president of the Asian Football Confederation. He served as that position from 14 June 2011 to 1 May 2013. He was also a member the FIFA Executive Committee.

Zhang joined the AFC in 1989 as a member the AFC Rules Committee. In April 2000, he was elected chairman of the AFC Finance Committee. Zhang was a member of the FIFA Women’s Committee in 1994. Zhang was elected as one of the vice presidents of AFC President Mohammed Bin Hammam on August 1, 2002. In January 2007, he was elected Senior-Vice president by the AFC members. In January 2011, he ran for a seat in FIFA’s executive committee, but was defeated by the AFC congress in Doha.

In September 2012, due to his age Zhang retired from his role as foreign affairs director at the State Sports General Administration, but continued to preside over the AFC in his capacity as Acting Chairman. In February 2013, Zhang Jilong announced that he would withdraw from the elections of the next AFC President and FIFA Executive Committee

Zhang was born in Yantai Province, Shandong Province. Zhang graduated in 1975 from Beijing International Studies University. He joined the National Athletic Committee in 1975. He also worked in the department of foreign affairs. Zhang joined the Chinese Football Association when it was founded in 1978.

Zhang called Veerapan, the secretary of Asia Football Association, to ask for a meeting with Blatter about the new rule. Zhang stated that “FIFA shouldn’t interfere with the internal affairs” of the Asia Football Association and asked Blatter for the return of the proposed rule. Veerapan agreed to Zhang’s suggestion and said he would talk with Blatter about the matter. The draw took place in Bangkok on June 1st 2001. It was based on the original rules of the Asia Football Association, not the proposed new rule. The Chinese football team was seeded along with Qatar, Uzbekistan and Oman. China was awarded the first place in the group, and they were able to reach the finals.

FIFA suspended Bin Hammam for life on 23 July 2011, due to bribery allegations, and he was officially dismissed as head of the Asian Football Confederation. On 29 July 2011, the members of AFC were informed that the legal committee was in agreement that an Extraordinary Congress for the election of President may be convened in the event that the office of President falls vacant for more than one year. This means that an Extraordinary Congress for this purpose could not be convened until after 30 May 2012 and Zhang will act as President until that date. In the end, Zhang indeed acted as the first executive chairman due to the suspension of Bin Hammam. He was also elected as a member of the FIFA Executive Committee.
