Weiss spent 2015 playing for the Daytona Tortugas, Class A-Advanced Florida State League, and the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, Class AA Southern League. A Pensacola record 25 saves was set by Weiss. Reds manager Bryan Price said in spring training in 2018: “if he doesn’t make the team I imagine we’ll see him at some point during the year.” The Cincinnati Reds added Weiss to their active roster on their Opening Day, March 30, 2018, and he made his major league debut on April 12, at Great American Ball Park against the St. Louis Cardinals. Weiss was released by the Reds on September 1, 2018.
The Cincinnati Reds drafted him in the sixth round, 2013 MLB Draft. Weiss signed with Reds and made his professional debut in the Arizona League Reds. He also played for the Billings Mustangs. Weiss was 2-4 in 2014 for the Dayton Dragons of Class A Midwest League. He had 80 strikeouts and a 2.42 ERA.

Zachary Daniel Weiss, zAk vyys, was born June 16, 1992 in Israel. He is an Israeli-American professional relief pitcher for the Cleveland Indians. He is a former player for the Cincinnati Reds (MLB). He can throw four pitches, including a fastball of 93-95 mph and a slider. He also has a curveball as well as a changeup.
The Pittsburgh Pirates drafted him in the 10th round, 2010 Major League Baseball Draft. He didn’t sign and instead attended University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he studied geography and environmental studies, and played college baseball for UCLA Bruins baseball. He played college summer baseball for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox in the Cape Cod Baseball League in 2011. He pitched as a relief pitcher in his junior year of college, which resulted in a 2.25 earned runs average and the Bruins winning their first national baseball championship. In 2017, Weiss was 2-1 with one save and a 2.08 ERA, and 19 strikeouts in 13 innings, for Daytona, and 2-4 with nine saves (tied for 7th in the league) and a 2.89 ERA, and 37 strikeouts in 28 innings, for Pensacola. Between the two teams, he averaged 12.3 strikeouts per nine innings. The Reds added him to their 40-man roster after the 2017 season. In 2018 in the minors, between the Arizona Reds, Pensacola Blue Wahoos, and the Louisville Bats he was 3-3 with one save and a 5.40 ERA, and 26 strikeouts in 24.1 innings.
