He competes in the Under weight class of 66 kilograms and was awarded bronze medals at the 2017 World Judo Championships and in the 2018 European Judo Championships. Flicker won the 2017 Grand Slam Baku, 2017 Grand Prix Cancun, and 2017 Grand Slam Abu Dhabi. In August 2017 , he was ranked as the top athlete globally in the U66 kg division.
On the 29th of August in 2017, Flicker was awarded his bronze award at the World Judo Championships in Men’s 66kg in Budapest, Hungary. Flicker made it to the semi-finals, in which he fell in the semi-final to Mikhail Pulyaev of Russia, and during the bronze-medal competition the winner was European Champion Georgii Zantaraia from Ukraine by a wazaari. Flicker followed the path of his fellow Israeli Golan Pollack who was awarded the World Championships bronze medal in the U66 class as well in the previous year. He was the fourth Israeli athlete to take home the bronze medal with the other two being Oren Smadja the trainer of his, and Arik Zeevi who also won in the open-weight division. In August 2017 , he was ranked as the top athlete worldwide at the weight of U66kg category.
On April 26, 2018, Flicker took part in the european championships in Tel Aviv and won a bronze medal in the under 66 kg weight category. In the first round he defeated Nathon Burns of Great Britain by waza-ari, in the second round he defeated Vadim Bunescu of Moldova by ippon. In the quarter finals he lost to Adrian Gomboc of Slovenia. He went on to defeat João Crisóstomo of Portugal in the repechage and reached the bronze medal match where he defeated Marko Gusic of Montenegro by ippon.
On the 26th of October in 2017, he took home an Olympic gold medal at the Grand Slam Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates after defeating the world champion bronze medalist Nijat Shikhalizada, a native of Azerbaijan by ippon. It was reported that the International Judo Federation (IJF) issued a statement to the president of the United Arab Emirates Judo Federation which stated that “all delegations, including the Israeli delegation, shall be treated absolutely equally in all aspects, without any exception,” and that the IJF statutes “clearly provide that the IJF shall not discriminate on the ground of race, religion, gender or political opinion.”
