Yu Shuran is one of the most popular and richest Figure Skater who was born on August 4, 2000 in Beijing, China. Yu Shuran (Yu Shuran – born August 4, 2000 in China) is an ex-competitive figure skater from China who has represented Singapore internationally. She was the 2017 Southeast Asian Games champion in ladies’ singles and a two-time champion at national level. She skated in the final section at two ISU Championships.
Yu participated in the 2017 CS Nebelhorn Trophy in Oberstdorf (Germany) on September 17, 2017. This was the last qualifying opportunity for the 2018 Winter Olympics. Although her 9th place out of 35 skaters was not good enough to qualify, Singapore became the second alternate for an Olympic slot.
Yu made his senior international debut in August 2016, at the Asian Open Trophy, Manila, Philippines. Yu finished 5th at the event and went on to compete at the JGP event in Germany. She then returned to the senior division. She placed 21st at Gangneung’s Four Continents Championships, South Korea and 6th at Sapporo’s Asian Winter Games, Japan in February 2017. She was the first Singaporean figure skater to be selected for the 2017 World Championships in Helsinki (Finland) after obtaining the minimum technical score.

Yu was coached by Gao Song in Beijing, China during the 2014-2015 season. Yu, who was making her junior international debut in August 2014, placed 8th at Asian Open Trophy. Yu also appeared in her first ISU Junior Grand Prix JGP event in October 2014. She placed 9th in Zagreb (Croatian). She qualified in March 2015 for the free skating at her first ISU Championship, the 2015 World Junior Championships, Tallinn, Estonia. Overall, she finished 24th.
Yu was still at the junior level in the 2015-2016 season. After a short program, Yu was placed 28th at the 2016 World Junior Championships in Debrecen (Hungary).
Around January 2018, Yu was hospitalized and diagnosed with a neurological disorder. As a result, she missed the rest of the season, including the 2018 Singapore National Championships and the 2018 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships. Although her health improved with treatment, she learned that she would not be able to return to competition. In June 2018, she officially announced her retirement from competitive skating.
