The Washington scandal, according to the Democratic Party, was a “foreseeable tragedy” due to Park’s failure to listen.
Yoon, a 1982 Korea University alumnus, joined the Park election team as a member in 2012. He became the Blue House spokesperson on 24 February 2013. Yoon has been called a “conservative columnist… disliking by many progressives”.

After he was accused in a sexual assault case against a South Korean female intern at the Washington, D.C. Embassy, Present Park Geun Hye fired Yoon Chang-jung, her spokesman. Yoon’s actions were resented by President Park and her staff on Monday.
The assault or sexual harassment that occurred consisted in groping the intern and calling her up to his bedroom and asking her to answer the door naked or in underwear. The incident was reported to the American police by the intern on May 8. After the alleged assault, Yoon fled to Seoul. Kwak Sangdo, Senior Secretary of the President for Civil Affairs said that Yoon’s order to return was “not in conflict with any South Korean laws or US laws” and that Yoon’s return was a policy decision made by the Blue House. Yoon was only under arrest so it wasn’t a criminal escape from justice for him return to South Korea.
